Honesty in Education

Our children deserve the truth.

They deserve science taught as science. History taught as history - the full, complicated, honest story of who we are as a country and a community. Not a sanitized version designed to make adults comfortable, but an accurate one designed to make students capable.

When we give kids access to accurate information and teach them how to think critically about what they encounter in the world, we give them a lasting advantage. In the workplace. In their communities. In their lives.

Curriculum decisions belong in the hands of the people who know our students best - our teachers. These are trained professionals who understand child development, learning differences, and how to make complex ideas accessible to young minds. They deserve our trust, our support, and our respect.

I also believe that honesty in education means transparency with families. Parents deserve to know what's being taught and why. That trust is built through open communication and collaboration - not secrecy, and not political pressure from outside our community.

As your school board member, I will:

• Defend evidence-based curriculum standards in science, history, and health
• Support teacher autonomy and professional expertise in the classroom
• Advocate for transparency with families about curriculum and board decisions
• Oppose efforts to politicize what our children learn

Our kids are going to inherit a complex world. The best thing we can do is make sure they're ready for it - with honest information, critical thinking skills, and the confidence to ask hard questions.
