Safety isn't just about locks on doors. It's about whether a child feels like they belong.

When a student walks into school wondering if the adults there see them - really see them - as a person worthy of care and respect, that question doesn't disappear when the bell rings. It follows them into every classroom, every hallway, every interaction. And when the answer is uncertain, learning becomes almost impossible.

I believe safety in our schools means:

Physical safety - Our buildings, protocols, and staff should reflect a genuine commitment to keeping every student and educator free from harm. Our teachers and staff deserve to come to work without fear, and our kids deserve the same.

Emotional safety - Every child, regardless of race, religion, gender identity, disability, or how their brain works, deserves to feel welcome and valued in Centennial schools. A student who doesn't feel safe being themselves cannot thrive academically.

A culture of belonging - Safety isn't a policy you pass - it's a culture you build, every single day. It takes trained staff, responsive leadership, and a community that holds those values together.

As your school board member, I will prioritize policies that invest in mental health resources, support our educators with the training they need, and ensure that every Centennial student can walk through the door knowing this school was built for them too.

Because when our kids feel safe, everything else becomes possible.
